To say that 2020 was a difficult year is a massive understatement. 2020 was the year when our collective resolve was tested again and again. When we had to isolate ourselves from our loved ones, our routines, our world, and pretty much everything that kept us grounded. 2020 was the year that shook and crumbled the structures we always thought were invincible. And forced us into a situation where we had to ask difficult questions about our life, its meaning, and purpose.
The crisis is not over yet. The introspection and realignment of priorities that follow a life-changing event like this continues. Personally, for me the most important question that kept rearing its head, again and again, was — what does it mean to be happy? And to find an answer to that question, I did the only thing I could.
Quit Your Monday! is my attempt to make sense of what it means to be happy in a material, professional world and how one can balance the practical considerations of our existence with the more profound search for true happiness. Because breaking patterns and pre-existing structures was the theme of this year, this book tackles the notion of us being trapped in unhappy patterns of our own making, and what happens when we allow ourselves to be lulled into these false comfort zones that limit our potential happiness and success.
The 7 days work as a metaphor for our 7 states of being, which correspond with varying degrees and types of emotional and spiritual distress we face as we go on with our daily lives. The idea is to understand how we keep repeating behaviors, and thought patterns that make us unhappy and do not allow us to explore the limitless possibilities of our happiness and success. Once we diagnose the issue, that is the day we are trapped in, the book then proceeds to give us actual workable tools, assignments, and applicable strategies that help us break our trap, and the pattern.
This book is a step beyond feel-good self-help. It is a practical guidebook whose earnest focus is to provide actionable wisdom and real, practical tools that can be applied on a day to day basis. A short read, the book is a handbook on happiness that aspires to be your roadmap into a world that is constantly changing, and posing new challenges every day.
